5 Best Electric Shavers That You Need To Get In 2017!

Hey Beard bros. 2016 was weird. REALLY weird. I think you will all agree that you could have made A LOT of money betting on strange things that happened all around the world this year. Throughout the chaos, one thing remained constant – the love of the beard.

For yet another year, beards have absolutely killed it, with more beard bros joining the crew with every passing week. FANTASTIC! We know that having facial hair the ‘in’ thing in 2015 and 2016, but I think it’s pretty safe to say that they are going nowhere, and are very much here to stay for the next year and beyond, even if some people think that men with beards will decrease.

A lot of beard trimmer reviews out there point to differing trimmers in 2017, but we believe that our list is the most comprehensive.

We’ve therefore taken stock of the newest and best electric shavers of 2017 available and have compiled them for you guys in a top five list, as is our style.

If you want more detail, just head along to our Beard Trimmer section and we’ll be able to point you in the right direction when it comes to picking the best beard trimmer in 2017 for you. There is an extensive list of many different Shavers there for you to choose from.

Best Electric Shavers And Reviews

1. Braun Series 7 799cc

The Braun Series 7 790cc is one of the best selling electric razors on earth. It’s for any man that wants to achieve a close shave and wants healthy skin.

Although not the cheapest, it is a significant investment and we have yet to meet a man who has regretted his purchase of one of these bad boys. It is THAT good.

It’s a foil shaver (as opposed to a rotary shaver), which means it’s moveable head can reach every nook and cranny of your hair. It is incredible how little this will nick you whilst shaving.

It’s Braun’s OptiFoil tech that means that the ActiveLift trimmers can reach any hairs lying flat on your skin, and you can reach up to 0.05 mm in tightness with the blades.

One of the absolute best features is that it can sense deeper areas of hair and will increase/decrease power when it hits these areas. INCREDIBLE STUFF.

It’s highly customizable – ranging from insensitive right up to extra sensitive, which allows you to do what you want to suit yourself on a personal level. This is something very welcome in the trimming world, and you truly can make this the type of trimmer that suits exactly what you want.

It lubricates and cleans the blades, and removes the hair from the trimmer. It can also dry the blades to keep it longer. It can last an hour on a full charge, which is a bit ridiculous for such a powerful razor, and although it can be loud, it is the best on the market right now – for sure.

2. Braun Series 9 9095cc

  1. This is a fantastic addition to the Braun brand of trimmer, and it’s easy to see why they’re on top. Although on the surface it’s very similar to the series 9, it differs fundamentally in many ways. Not quite as popular as the series 7, it’s still one of the best-selling shavers on amazon and is a solid brick of a razor for someone looking for a confident, strong shave time after time.
  2. It is probably the most comprehensive of all shavers on this list, and because of that – it’s the most expensive. Whereas the series 7 has 10,000 vibrations per minute (a very powerful amount), the series 9 offers a staggering 40,000 vibrations. This is unheard of!
  3. It is so incredibly powerful that you will be guaranteed a strong shave every time. What it has in power however, it slightly lacks in customization.
  4. The series 9 doesn’t have all of the personalized features of the series 7 and so if you’re looking for the extra sensitive to insensitive modes, perhaps the 7 is better for you. It’s possibly more attractive to look at than the Series 7 and has a slick chrome design with contours throughout.

Again, it’ll do all that the series 7 does in terms of blades and cleaning. Overall, if you have the budget, this would be the one to pick up for sure.

3. Panasonic Arc 5

Braun may take the top two spots here, but Panasonic is just as trusted a brand when it comes to quality shavers. The Arc 5 is our favourite of all of Panasonic’s current offerings. It’s a powerful beast and is specifically designed to offer you the best shave possible.

Again, this is one of the closest shavers on the market, and the smoothness of the shave will you leave you breathless. There are five core blades in the Arc 5, so every single one of your hairs are going to be snapped up. There’s also a 30 degree angle on the head and so contours the face wonderfully. The contouring and pivoting head increases flexibility and features a motor of 14,000 vibrations per minute through it’s foil cutters.

Anyone with a thick beard, you will feel comfortable taming it with this. It is a beautiful shaver when it comes to avoiding nicks and tears, and your skin will not be put through an ordeal here. Honestly, if you get this and find that to be the case, we would be amazed. It simply does not happen. Three large foils do all the heavy duty cutting, with a sleeker, more discreet finishing foil blade to get to the harder to reach hairs. A pop out side trimmer sorts out anything extra detailed that you want to do manually.

The charging dock is attractive, and there’s a handy little indicator on what you have left battery wise before it is fully charged – nice. Although the cleaning station is really great, we found it to be a TINY bit behind the Braun’s overall, but the shaver works at cleaning itself perfectly under running water.

We would specifically recommend this for guys with thicker beards, but anyone will be able to get great use out of this little monster.

4. Panasonic Arc 4

Similar to the two Brauns above, this is in the same family as the Arc 5, and although achieving a similar functionality overall, it is a lot more affordable overall. If you are on a budget, but want MOST of the attributes of the Arc 5, than the Arc 4 will be your perfect choice.

The main difference is that there is one less main blade in the Arc 4 to it’s older brother. Of course, they’re still of the highest quality, and the contouring, pivoting head remains. You’ll still get a wicked shave with this, but the incredible functionality of the 5 blades on the Arc 5 are not present to their full extent here – no biggie.

Once again, it has 14,00 cuts in a minute, and once again it is well suited to a big beard. You will be able to glide through without having to retrace your steps all the time. HANDY. It’s great at getting those trickier hairs.

The same issues here exist in that it might not be 100% suitable to extra sensitive faces due to its power, but if you have a normal tolerance to shaving and have a middling to large beard, only the Arc 5 will give you more assuredness in its shave.

The Arc 4 does have a different charging dock. With the Arc 4, you need to buy a dock separately from Panasonic. This is an annoyance, but do NOT scrimp and save on a dock, as the one you choose will most certainly affect it’s battery-life.

Because of this, you will also have to manually clean the shaver, but it’s not a big deal as these sort themselves out very well under running water.

5. Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D

Do you think it’s possible for us to do a ‘best of’ list without including a Philips product? Of course it is! But that said, it’s just bloody hard not to include them every time due to their consistent quality throughout their entire haircare range of electronics.

The Norelco SensoTouch 3D differs slightly from the others on this list, as it is a rotary shaver and not a foil shaver. Due to the rotary function, it means that it is also great for guys looking to shave their neck AND their head. Baldies – we’re looking at you.

The first thing you will notice about this bad boy is the comfort – boy is it comfortable. You can apply it to wet or dry skin, it doesn’t matter a jot to this beast. It has AquaTec technology, meaning it’s comfortable and competent either way. No, it will not get clogged if you use water OR shaving cream.

The three rotary heads each feature three separate shaving tracks and so they can remove any hairs that you want gone. Isn’t that nice now, a trimmer that does what you want? They’re really big, so they get a massive amount of hairs overall that the majority of trimmer would miss in a movement.

Despite having a large catchment area, it will still offer a smooth and even shave throughout. It also has the wonderful Philips’ Lift & Cut dual-blade system. This will be similar to you if you have used the technology in Braun and Panasonic shavers. It essentially gets to all of those tough to get, flat hairs on your face (or neck or head – wherever).

It will charge in an hour, which is good, but the one thing of caution here is the battery is not replaceable. In fact, the entire shaver itself is difficult to replace. This wouldn’t be the most suitable to a man who travels internationally a lot or who subjects their trimmers to a lot of wear and tear.

Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t fragile at all, but if it breaks you could be in trouble.
