Knowledge is Power

As we enter another month of the COVID-19 pandemic, for many it may be difficult to think about anything else right now. COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on our lives, our loved ones, and how it will change the foreseeable future, consuming a great majority of our thoughts.

In April we experienced a “stay-at-home” shutdown order for all in-lab activities, but on May 1st we were able to re-open our labs. Good news is during the lab shutdown we were still able to advance our research activities, and now that we are back in the lab the new guidelines for operating with PPE equipment in our lab to protect our staff has already been our standard protocol long before the shutdown took place, so there should be zero disruption or inconvenience to research conducted in our lab moving forward.

Potential long-term effects of a virus such as COVID-19 most likely will include cardiac challenges even further increasing demand for the bioengineered heart viable for transplantation we are working on. Additionally, quick and accurate safety models like the one our miniheart represents are critical in efforts to bring therapies and vaccines rapidly and safely to the market. While we would prefer to never have to experience a pandemic again, clearly situations like this only further increase the already substantial need for the solutions BIOLIFE4D is trying to bring to the market.

As we continue to move forward together in this new global reality, we recognize the importance of not only taking care of our self but also our loved ones.  To do that, it is important to know the facts and continue to maintain awareness.
