February is an important time of year for the Heart, but not for the reason you might be thinking of. Sure, there’s that holiday about love and emotions from the heart, but we’re talking about something much more significant. February is American Heart Month – sponsored by The American Heart Association – and is the time when we amplify how serious heart health is.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States and claims the life of one in four Americans each year. Thankfully it’s something that can be prevented through education and lifestyle changes to make healthier choices, including changes to diet and exercise routines.
For some though, it is sadly too late and their heart is beyond repair, leaving them with transplant as their only option. While transplantation has evolved over the last 50 years, there are still not enough hearts to meet demand and survival rates are not as long as they could be.
That is why this February we are asking you to help us spread the word about heart month, and about BIOLIFE4D’s equity crowdfunding campaign to change heart health. With your help, we can transform the way heart disease is treated and save many lives – and leave February to Cupid and candy.
