4 4 L D N is a new London-based fashion house. Through founder Devanté Cole’s interest in photography, sport, architecture and contemporary culture, an alternative path has been found, turning 4 4 L D N into a well-respected creator of streetwear.
The collections are defined by Devanté’s on-field and off-field lifestyle and attention to detail, with an emphasis on tailoring and an eclectic use of materials and custom-developed fabrics. The collections cover men’s good quality basics and layering streetwear.
4 4 L D N’s first collection has been designed to fit and layer with one another and includes over-sized hooded sweats tailored at the hip, curved hem T-shirts, slim fit sweat pants and 4 4 L D N-branded caps.
According to Devanté,
“For design ideas, we looked at the skylines of both cities and included ideas around music, clubbing, new media – particularly text speak – and of course fashion. Factory Records and the design of Peter Saville was a huge inspiration.
It’s undoubtedly fascinating to see how elegant, minimalist concepts can get, generally, it isn’t uncommon for street-wear clothing to brag about how simple and minimal their designs are, but then again these designs from 44LDN seems to seamlessly integrate individual items to build a unique aesthetic, one good example of this would be the placement of the typography on the t-shirt.
