Shilajit – For Stamina

What is Shilajit? Shilajit is a rare natural phyto complex substance formed by the gradual decomposition of certain plants over long period of times by the action of microorganisms. It is collected by local inhabitants in many mountain ranges but mainly from the mountainous range of Hindukush and lower Himalayas of Indian subcontinent. It is thick, sticky, pale-brown to blackish-brown exudation that seeps out of cracks when the sun is beating down on mountains. It is bitter in taste and smells like cow’s stale urine. Shilajit is a Sanskrit word when literally translated means “invincible rock” and in applied term means “conqueror of mountains and destroyer of weakness.” Shilajit is also spelled as Silajit, Salajeet or Shilajeet and is also known as Asphaltum, mineral pitch, mumijo, momia, mummiyo and moomiyo. Composition of Shilajit Shilajit, being a humic substance that is obtained from biodegradation of organic plants, contains more than 80-85% by weight mixture of humic acids and the balance 15-20% by weight constitute complex minerals, trace elements (iron, calcium, copper, zinc, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum and phosphorous), amino acids and proteins, triterpenes, sterols, polyphenols and phenolic lipids.
