When we come across animals in distress, we try to help to the best extent possible, otherwise, call the Blue Cross to guide us through.
Well, when Raj Milind came across a puppy trapped in a drain in Lucknow, he used his expertise in technology to help the poor animal who was trapped for two days straight!
The drain was so deep and clogged that it wouldn’t be easy to rescue the pup without harming himself. So what did Raj do? Like Dexter in his Laboratory, he went to work in his lab to conjure a device to help the helpless animal!
Raj has expertise in artificial intelligence, and building robots is his profession. So when it came to helping out, he took to his lab to put together a device – an AI-controlled Robotic arm attached to a drone!
“The drain was so filthy, it was like a bog,” Mr Raj told NDTV. “It was not possible for a human to rescue the Puppy without endangering their own life, so I decided to put technology to the task,” he said. “I decided to use the AI-controlled robotic arm because it has a smart heartbeat sensor. Attached to the drone, I knew it would be risky but may work,” he added.
With no time to spare, he built the robotic contraption that could be controlled wirelessly in his Lucknow lab in under six hours!
He then took to the drain and deployed his technology. Equipped with the smart heartbeat sensor, the AI would let him know if the grip was too tight.
“The AI helped me monitor the animal’s heart rate,” he said. “If the grip were too tight, the pup would suffocate,” said Raj.
The puppy was safely returned to the ground. “It vomited plastic, including paan masala packets that people had carelessly tossed into the drain,” Raj said. When the puppy returned to normalcy, it was named “Lifted”!
Raj has been passionate about developing technologies that can contribute to society in any way. His innovation, A.I. (C3) Robotic Humanoid was a prime feature in the U.P Investors Summit of 2018, which aims to improve life by bringing automation to all.
This video will show how Raj’s technology worked to save the puppy!
