This Baby Girl Was Abandoned in a Bin. Now She Has Hundreds Lining up to Adopt Her!

In a shocking, though tragically not rare instance, a six-month-old Baby was abandoned in a dumpster on the Moradabad-Agra highway.

Whether she was abandoned by her biological parents or abducted by someone else and then left in the garbage bin is still a mystery.

But this baby girl, once left with no trace of her of family, now has hundreds of couple lining up outside the Child welfare committee office in Moradabad for adoption – thanks to local and national media who picked her story.

After the six-month-old’s picture went viral on social media, a host of couples approached the police and the child welfare committee (CWC) with requests for adoption on Saturday, reported the Times of India.

However, the hunt for her biological family is still on. Until then, the baby has been sent to the state-run orphanage in Rampur.

The baby was rescued on Friday by a woman, a resident of the Bhikanpur-Kulwada village. Moved by the plight of the helpless child, she fed her milk as well.

“She has been missing her terribly. She even went to the local police station to check on the baby girl. We all are hoping and praying that her parents are found, and she goes back home,” Mehraj Hussain, another Bhikanpur-Kulwada villager told TOI.

The CWC officials at Moradabad confirmed the overwhelming response by the general public, saying their phone has been ringing off the hook and their office was full of visitors, most of whom were childless couples.

“We have been telling couples that we cannot hand over the baby to anyone as first, we will have to look for her biological parents, and an advertisement will be given out in local papers for that,” said Gulzar Ahmed, President of CWC Moradabad.

The plan of action is to find the kid’s biological family first. The authorities said that if any couple came forward to claim to be the girl’s parents, they would first have to undergo a DNA test before she is handed over to them.

“As of now, it appears that the child was either stolen or abducted and the people behind the crime abandoned her fearing police action. That’s because the spot from where she was recovered connects UP to Rajasthan and MP,” said Gulzar Ahmed.

In case the girl’s parents are not found, her adoption would only be allowed after two years, said another CWC member, Vincent Ram.

The power of media never fails to amaze us! Kudos to the villagers who rescued the child as well as the couples who came forward. We wish the baby a happy life!
