Religion for Men? pt. 1
Is religion for the modern man? I think so. It fills your soul with that little something extra that every man needs. I personally identify myself as a Christian and follow the Bible.
The reason why I practice religion is because I cannot get everything I need in life from people or material things. I can buy all the items in the world and at the end of the day I will still feel like I am missing something from life. I could be the best of friends with everyone in the world to, but even then I would still feel an emptiness that I can't describe.
Religion can also provide a set of rules or advice to live by, such as any proverbs or ten commandments. A rule my wife and I live by is that I am the head of the household. I am the one that makes the decisions for the family, good or bad, the action is on me. The bible doesn't command that I just blindly do whatever I want. It advises me to accept my wife's counsel and to have my FAMILY'S best intentions at heart, not my own. It is my responsibility to weigh all options and make the best one for my family and the consequences, good or bad will be in my head.
You as the man SHOULD be the leader of your house, the one making the tough calls on what to do and when to do it. The woman's place is next to her Husband supporting any decision you make for the family. You might be thinking this sounds sexist, but someone needs to be in charge of the family and it should be the man of the house. Also, remember that everyone makes mistakes, so whether the woman or the man is in charge, mistakes will happen. Both parties need to forgive, learn, and move forward.
I run my family this way and we are very happy. I talk to my wife about all subjects before I make a decision. I also pray and bring God into the mix. It's a way of meditating and truly thinking about the problem before making a decision. I have my thoughts in my head, I have my wife's input, and I then meditate and pray about the problem. Who really knows if it's God talking to me or not. I choose to believe that it is and He has helped me every step of the way.
A relationship is a two-way street, both the husband and wife need to respect each other. It's what men do for their loved ones, they respect them. I will leave you with a Bible verse to think about and remember have a great day!
The following Bible verse says it perfectly.
"Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them."
- Colossians 3:18-19
