Google Clips – the $249 artificial intelligence-powered Camera – is ready to order. However, Android Police said deliveries are not expected until March.

The camera was introduced to the public during a Pixel 2 event back in October.

The camera, which was revealed at the end of the event, snaps photos of what’s happening in its view using machine learning (ML) algorithm and AI.

Designated Photographer

Google described the camera as a “designated photographer.”

Google Clips – which measures less than 2-by-2 inches and users can easily hold or clip anywhere – went on sale on Google’s website without much fanfare.

Aside from Pixel, the device also works with Samsung Galaxy S7, or Galaxy S8 running Android 7.0 Nougat or greater; or Iphone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X running iOS 10 or greater

A Camera That Gets Smarter over Time

A post on the website said: “Google Clips is smart enough to recognize great expressions, lighting, and framing. So the camera captures beautiful, spontaneous images. And it gets smarter over time.”

There have been security concerns raised about the camera though.

Those security worries, however, have been addressed.

A Mashable article said Google Product Manager Juston Payne had assured that the team that developed the camera took care of those concerns.

At the Pixel 2 event, Jay Stanely, an ACLU policy analyst with Google’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project, told Mashable: “The bottom line is I don’t think it crosses any new lines in terms of privacy.”
