Equity benchmarks continued to see uptrend. The Sensex Rose 255.39 points or 1.06 percent to 24443.76 and the Nifty climbed 72.45 points or 0.99 percent to 7423.45.

The 30-share BSE Sensex surged 282.00 points or 1.17 percent to 24470.37 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 81.50 points or 1.11 percent to 7432.50. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices spiked 1.5 percent each.

Asian stocks and sharp surge in US stock index futures aided the upmove on the domestic bourses.
