Fantasy sports have been around for a long time now, but they’ve always been a fringe activity that hasn’t really gained a lot of momentum. That is until Draftkings came along with their tech savvy Fantasy Sports platforms and daily prizes.

Because it is a fantasy sports league and not a real one, DraftKings gets round gambling legislation in many US states and gives people a way to gamble legally online that just wasn’t possible before. DraftKings has daily fantasy sports contests that are held across a number of different events including soccer, hockey, football and golf.

To enter you need to pay a fee, which can be less than $1, and then you can draft players and start earning prizes. Players can bet on a daily basis, which keeps them involved and engaged with the site. Branding is an important part of the DraftKings success story and they advertise themselves in a number of high profile locations including Vegas, and during televised sporting events.

DraftKings have even opened up fantasy sports zones in major NFL stadiums in the US, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality and creating a social aspect to what has previously been a solitary activity.

While DraftKings may have an uncertain future thanks to changes in legislation and competition from some big companies who are keen to get a piece of the action, there’s no doubt they managed to successfully disrupt the fantasy sports industry.
