One of the prominent exotic carmakers, Aston Martin has unveiled their new car, the DB12. The brand will commence the bookings for the DB12 in India from June 2023. Meanwhile, the deliveries of the car are slated to be commenced in the 4^th quarter of 2023.

The renowned exotic brand is celebrating the 110th birthday of Aston Martin and the 75th birthday of the DB nameplate with this unveiling. However, the DB12 is based on its predecessor model pampered with significant updates in the powertrain, chassis, and interior. This car will lock its horns with Ferrari Roma and Bentley Continental GT in India.

The Exterior of the Aston Martin DB12

The newly unveiled Aston Martin DB12 is designed by Miles Nurnberger. As per the designer, the DB12 is designed to employ a significant focus on power and performance. The overall design of the exotic DB12 boasts an aggressive proportion to its predecessor model.

Upfront, the Aston Martin DB12 features a new humongous grille and slightly beefier aerodynamic elements along with LED matrix headlights. The carmaker has embedded larger wheels and a wider track of 6mm at the front and 2mm at the rear. All of these tweaks result in a bold and muscular stance.

Meanwhile, the new DB12 features smaller ORVM mirrors and flush door handles for enhanced airflow and a clean profile. However, the rear of the car looks sporty with the inversed C-shaped LED taillights and a fat bumper. The lower part of the bumper has a black diffuser and a sporty muffler.

Aston Martin is known for the best blend of performance and premium factors. And the new DB12 is no different. The carmaker has revamped the interiors and features a comprehensive update replacing the old Mercedes infotainment platform. The overall design of the interior of the new DB12 looks modern and bespoke luxury.

The main highlight of the interior is a 10.25-inch infotainment system developed by Aston Martin sitting on a sloping waterfall console. Moreover, the carmaker claims that they have improved the response time of touch inputs to 30 milliseconds. And it supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.

About the Powertrain

The newly unveiled Aston Martin DB12 is powered by a 4.0L Mercedes sourced twin-turbo V8 engine. As per the carmaker, this engine is tuned to churn out 34% more torque than the DB11 V8. The total output of this engine stands at 680ps of power and 800nm of torque. This results in a 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 325km/h.

The factors contributing to higher engine output are modified cam profiles, tweaked compression ratios, larger turbochargers, and improved cooling. However, the DB12 is still using the ZF-sourced Automatic Transmission to channel the power to the rear wheels. The power distribution is contributed by a new electronic rear differential replacing the old mechanical unit. The new electronic differential can be 100% locked to a final drive ratio of 3.083:1 for precision and consistency.
