The 3rd generation Hyundai i20 made its global debut in 2020. And it entered the Indian market in the same year. This hatchback has gained an immense response from the market.
As a result, the carmaker has unveiled the refreshed version of the i20 hatchback. This Facelift boasts a slew of cosmetic tweaks and the addition of new features.
Refreshing new design of Hyundai i20 facelift
The carmaker has tweaked the overall design of the exterior of the i20 hatchback. The front fascia now gets a new sportier look with tweaked bumpers, grille, side intakes and headlights. These elements have enhanced the sharper and sportier character of the premium hatchback.
However, the new facelift version of the i20 now sits on new alloy wheels of 16-17 inches. The carmaker has also updated the rear bumper with skid plates and a sporty contrast black element. Moreover, the global version of the i20 facelift also features new colour options including metallic lime, pearl grey and pearl blue.
Feature updates in Hyundai i20 facelift
The carmaker has brimmed the new i20 facelift with a plethora of features. The feature list includes a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, infotainment system, connected car tech and ADAS. We can expect that these features might be available in the Indian version as well.
However, the new i20 will get enhanced safety with more Airbags as standard and an option of 6-Airbags. And the hatchback will get LED cabin lights and multi-coloured ambient lighting which enhances the interior of the car.
Engine Options
The new Hyundai i20 facelift will continue with the current Engine options. The base engine will be a 1.2L 4-cylinder VTVT petrol engine making 83ps and 114nm of torque output. However, the higher variants will be available with a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged T-GDi petrol engine. This engine makes an impressive 120ps of power and 172nm of torque output.
The VTVT engine can be had with either a 5-Speed Manual or an IVT transmission. While the T-GDi engine will get the option of a 6-Speed IMT or a 7-Speed DCT Transmission.
Pricing and Launch Timeline
Hyundai will launch the facelift version of the premium hatchback in the 3rd quarter of this year. Upon its launch, the new i20 facelift will receive a certain spike in its price range. The Hyundai i20 will continue to compete with Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, and Citroen C3 too.
