About Hyundai Exter

The Hyundai Exter features a slew of design elements from its elder sibling, the Venue. The Exter features a parametric grille, projector headlights, and H-shaped DRLs. In addition, the Exter gets distinctive lines on the hood, 15-inch alloy wheels and skid plates. But, the rear profile of this SUV isn’t revealed officially.

However, the interior of the upcoming Hyundai Exter could borrow some elements from the Grand i10 NIOS hatchback. The Exter will get a slew of features that will raise the standard of the segment. Certain modern features like a large infotainment screen with connectivity features, wireless charging, a digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats and 6-airbags are expected.

Powertrain Options

The Hyundai will offer the Exter in 2 engine variants. Both powertrains comply with the latest BS6 Phase-2 standards and support E20 fuel blends. The 1.2L VTVT 4-cylinder petrol engine delivers 82 hp of power and 115 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a convenient AMT transmission.

The Hyundai Exter will also get a 1.2L bi-fuel CNG engine making an approx. 77hp and 95nm of output in CNG mode. Paired with a 5-Speed Manual Transmission, this powertrain will be the most fuel-efficient among others.

Pricing and the Competition

Hyundai will offer the Exter in 5 different variants namely the E, S, SX, SX (o) and SX (o) connect. The Hyundai will price the Exter between the range of Rs. 6 Lakhs to 11 Lakhs Ex-showrooms. When launched, the Hyundai Exter face competition from Maruti Ignis, Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
