The 5th Digital China Summit Concluded! 565 Projects Signed with a Total Investment of 299 Billion Yuan

On July 24, the 5th Digital China Summit came to an end in Fuzhou. By adhering to the four-platform positioning, themed on “New Transformation Driven by Innovation; New Orders Led by Digitalization”, the Summit has reached consensus, promoted innovation, and helped all parties in the wave of digital development to take new opportunities, address new challenges, and create new advantages, through forums, policy releases, exhibitions, innovation competitions, cloud ecology conference and other activities. Data show that 565 digital economy projects have been successfully signed in the Summit with a total investment of 299 billion yuan.

A number of official reports have been released on the development of information technology in the Summit. The “Digital China Development Report (2021)” released by the Cyberspace Administration of China shows that from 2017 to 2021, the total scale of China’s digital economy ranks second in the world, with a compound annual growth rate of 13.6%, while its proportion of GDP has increased from 32.9% to 39.8%, inferring this economy has become one of the main engines of economic growth. The “National Digital Literacy and Skills Development Research Report” released by the Summit shows that the pool of China’s digital technology professionals is increasingly vast, with the average number of employees working in software industry being 8.09 million in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%. Other documents released in the Summit are the “National Data Resources Survey Report (2021)”, “National Health Informatization Development Index (2022)”, the white paper”6G Typical Scenarios and Key Capabilities”, and the “Typical Achievements of Digital Technology in State-owned Enterprises” etc.

In terms of displaying the latest achievements in the construction of digital China, this Summit has set up a physical exhibition hall of more than 85,000 square meters, attracting nearly 500 enterprises to exhibit their latest achievements of digital technology on site. The first exhibition rate has exceeded 50%. There are 12 major sections in the Summit exhibition, including the digital government, digital economy, digital culture, digital society and other exhibition areas. In particular, a special exhibition of “Digital China Construction Achievement Tour” has been set up to show the brilliant achievements of Digital China since the 19th National Congress of the CPC. Meanwhile, a total of 30 outstanding achievements have been carefully selected in three categories: “Top Ten Hardcore Technologies”, “Top Ten Solutions” and “Top Ten First Exhibited Achievements”. Among them, the “Top Ten Hardcore Technologies” cover high-end chips, operating systems, key artificial intelligence algorithms, sensors and other technical fields; the “Top Ten Solutions” focus on the application of digital solutions to drive changes in production, lifestyles and governance; the “Top Ten First Exhibited Achievements” highlight the innovative technologies that have become the benchmarks of digital transformation.

The Summit has organized the 5th Digital China Innovation Competition, setting up ten events, such as digital city design, big data, and digital medical care, attracting a large number of young people to make innovations and start businesses in the field of digital China construction. These activities have greatly promoted the innovative application of digital technology and digital industry development in China.
