How To Set Up Business Manager For Your Facebook Ads

Firstly, I am going to explain why you should be using Facebook Business Manager and not boosting posts via Facebook itself.

Boosting posts is a short-term strategy and is only good for ‘social proofing’ your posts. Boosted posts have become so saturated the algorithm will devalue your Ad more than anything. Using Business Manager allows you to create more targeted campaigns, build out ongoing ad funnels as well as control your audience, tracking and testing much better.

So, let’s dive in to my Top 3 steps to creating a business manager account for your Facebook and Instagram Ads.

Step 1

Ensure you are on the correct platform, Facebook Business Manager has a grey taskbar and Facebook itself, has a blue task bar, this is the simplest way to ensure you are creating ads on the correct platform.

Create a Business Manager account here.

Step 2

Once you have a Business Manager account set up, you will need to connect your Facebook page.

Under Business Settings, find the pages tab and click there. You should already have a Facebook business page that you own, so you can simply click ‘Add a Page’. If you do not have a Facebook business page, you can also create one here. If you are an agency, or creating Facebook Ads for another business page you do not own, you can request access to the page here by typing in the business page name and the owner will receive a notification of your request.

Step 3

Now you have connected your Facebook page, you will need to create an Ad account. An ad account allows you to pay for your ads by setting up payment methods and organize your objectives for reporting. If you have more than one client or business, you can create separate Ad accounts with separate payment methods. You can also set your ‘Ad Account overall budget’ here, which means regardless of your campaign or Ad set budgets, your overall ad account budget will be the master budget. If you are setting an ad account budget, set a realistic budget, if you select a £100 budget, Facebook will see this and devalue your Ads as they believe you are not willing to invest into their Ads platform, which in return, can influence the success of your campaigns.

To get started with your Ads, from the menu, click Ads Manager and work your way through the steps to create your Ads.

There are a lot of things which you need to understand to create high performing ads, from choosing the right objective and budget, to producing a scroll stopping creative.
