6 home décor ideas that your kids would absolutely love

Children play in the most unpredictable ways at home and parents find it difficult to keep them engaged whilst still maintaining their sanity and some semblance of a ‘neat’ home. There are many ways in which you make your home child friendly and also ensure that they are safe. These ideas need not burn a hole in your pocket but you can use some simple DIY methods to make these improvements. These ideas would work for you whether you stay in a rented house or in your own property

Reading nook

Using a few shelves or even old unused crates you can create a small Reading Nook in a corner. This can double up as Storage Space and also help keep you little ones hooked to their books in a comfortable corner. You can also create a private corner using curtains and pillows.

Arts Desk You can upcycle old bottles and cans to create holders for your kid’s various craft supplies. Just fix a rack above their desks and you have added another dimension to their study space. You can also use chalk boards to give them a space to scribble without damaging your walls.

In the Kitchen You stick magnets onto cups and stick them onto the fridge. This way kids have easy access to their cups and won’t go rummaging through the draws. Also allot a lower shelf for their goodies so that they can access them easily. Use easy to open container and also line up a bunch a bowls and cutlery in the same area.

Be colourful Children’s rooms are places you can use colour liberally and it won’t look awkward. You can even put up festoons and buntings that would make for a cheery room all year round. When you sort their toys and things itemize them into colour coded baskets so that you can avoid the mess and they know how to put away their things.

In the Bathroom Bathrooms are places where everything is adult sized. Make simple adjustments, like a stepping stool by the toilet and low hanging towel hooks. Also have easy to open cupboards so that children can access their toothbrushes easily. This will make your child comfortable in the bathroom.

Furniture You will always have more things at home once you have children, so look for furniture that can double up as a storage space as well. Wall storages at low heights are a great way to encourage kids to clean up after themselves.

Ensure that your house or flat is exciting and safe for your kids at the same time. It is hard to eliminate all dangers but you can definitely make it as exciting as possible without having to compromise on your design aesthetic.
