Life at UpKeep Episode 07: Zoie Kline, Sales Development Representative

Life at UpKeep!

“Life at UpKeep” is an employee spotlight blog series, where we showcase the amazing people and teams in our company doing amazing work together!

Through the eyes of our very own UpKeepers, you’ll get a glimpse into our company culture, our team’s big and small wins, how members of our team came to join and love UpKeep, and so much more!

Meet Our Teammate!

We are excited to chat with Zoie Kline, our awesome Sales Development Representative! We are so fortunate to have such an energetic and talented individual on the team, who listens to every prospects’ queries with a smile and provides solutions to their questions. Zoie also provides amazing support to the sales organization, always lending a hand where needed and going the extra mile to help someone out! Here is her interview with our CEO, Ryan!

Ryan: Hey Zoie! Could you start us off by sharing what your role is at UpKeep, and some of your responsibilities?

Zoie: Hey Ryan! My role as an SDR is to be the first touch with the potential customer when they are first checking out UpKeep. If there are prospects actively signing up on the web, on their phones, or even requesting a demo with us, then my job is to get in touch with them as fast as possible. Once I get them on the phone, I act as a product specialist to help answer their questions, see if they fit our ICP, and get them on a demo! I’m basically dialing and emailing all day, I target at least 130 dials and 50 emails in one day. I’m actively setting anywhere from 1-6 SQOs a day and following up with them all the way until the get on a demo with the emerging or mid-market AE.

Ryan: You’re absolutely killing it, Zoie! How did you find out about UpKeep? And, what made you want to join the team?

Zoie: I was previously living in the Bay Area with my family and wanted to move to LA as soon as I could to be closer to friends and better weather. After I left my last job, I knew I wanted to be in a position where I was selling something that actually helped people. I found UpKeep on LinkedIn and after all of the research, I loved the product and loved seeing all of the customer stories of people saving so much time and money. I never realized how many maintenance departments still did so much manual work. Besides that, I read so much about the amazing culture within UpKeep as well. I actually messaged Garris on LinkedIn and basically said, “Hey i really want to work here, hire me!” And, he passed me along to Tyler and the rest was history.

Ryan: That’s awesome! Currently, what’s a project you’ve been working on that you’re really proud of? Or, maybe a project you’ve already completed that you still think about?

Zoie: So, as a Team Captain for the SDR team, I’ve been creating all of the Sales Contests for the past couple of weeks. My goal has been to keep the team motivated with awesome prizes and make sure the contests don’t get boring. Just yesterday, the SDRs and BDRs had a face-off to see who could get the most SQOs. And, the team names were based on foods. There was Team Croissants vs Team Bagels, and Team Apple vs. Team Banana. These contests give the SDRs some extra money for their stellar performance and help the team focus on any areas we need to focus on during the quarter! We’ve also done snakes and ladders, tons of raffles, even BINGO. It’s been so fun!

Ryan: Wow, thanks for putting all of that together! What’s something you love about UpKeep?

Zoie: I love the culture! Just the other day we had a cookie swap where we got to make cookies for each other. I mean how awesome is that? Free cookies! They were so good too. Shout out to our Chief of Staff, Caitlyn, and her pups, Pheston and Phoebe, who actually delivered them with a handwritten card! Not only that, but there are tons of clubs where I can talk sports, dogs, wine, finances, even kick ball! It’s made WFH super fun and interactive on Slack. I get to stay in touch with the whole team and see what they’re up to even though we are all separated.

Ryan: That’s awesome, Zoie. Thank you for everything you do and thanks for joining me in this episode of Life at UpKeep!

Join us for the Next Life at UpKeep!

Every other week, we will be spotlighting a new member of our team! So, stay tuned and hope to see you in the next one!
