As fate would have it, he managed to accomplish the feat and after obtaining a black belt in Taekwondo, he flew to Bangkok to study Martial Arts. There he stayed with his uncle who got him a job at the Metro Guest house where he worked as a chef. Akshay Kumar Marriage: The Story Before He Became An Actor
He later worked in Kolkata for a travel agency for a year and a half. His friends encouraged him to take up modelling and that was when he decided to take the plunge. After his successful start as a model, he decided to change his name to Akshay from Rajiv Om Bhatia. After modelling, Akshay decided to step into the Film Industry. That’s when he came up with the idea of taking giant sized prints for auditions so that no one could say they had been displaced! Those large prints worked in his favour and that is when he got his first film.
