Where to have coffee on your hen weekend in York

Tags: york tea room

The big weekend that you and your hysterical hens have been waiting for has finally arrived! This hen party in York that you've been planning since it seems like a decade ago. You had a great start to the weekend, kicking off your Friday night with nibbles, movies and a constant flow of bubbly and wine!

Much to your surprise you and the girls were still greeted with a sizeable hangover this morning, so before getting back on the champagne, you decide that a bit of retail therapy is on the cards with a much welcomed break for coffee, sandwiches and cake. (You do need to re-fuel before yourcocktail making class and After Dark package after all!)

But the question on everyone’s lips is…which York café should we park our bums at?

Well, the UKGirlThing team always have the answers!

The Famous ‘Betty’s’ Tea Room York

The genius that combined the mouth-watering Swiss confectionary with Yorkshire warmth is now famous worldwide, with mailings of their delectable treats being delivered as far as Tokyo. Betty’s Tea Room is located in the iconic St. Helens Square, so why not break up your shopping trip with a frothy cappuccino and delicious confectionary.

Crumbs Cupcakery

Hands up, who likes cupcakes? Silly question really, who doesn’t? Especially when such a huge selection is on offer. Crumbs Cupcakery is in a beautiful spot overlooking York Minster and the gorgeous Victorian Buildings in College Street area. You can enjoy a range of cupcakes, from a traditional British Victoria with jam and cream to ‘The All American’ (chocolate sponge and peanut butter). So why not bask in the summer sunshine and enjoy a delicious cupcake before your wild night in York.

The Perky Peacock Coffee Shop

This little gem has two cafes in York – one on the historic Gillygate and the other on top of the River Ouse. The latter is our favourite as it is housed in a medieval stone tower on the banks of the river. The quirky little building is lovely and cosy inside with a great atmosphere and fabulous cakes. So if you wanted to relax for your elevenses after a heavy night, this is the perfect spot.
