Why Cardiff is Great for a Hen Party

Wales… ‘the big country’; the land of my fathers and proud bearers of strong Celtic circumstance. At the very heart of this amazing country is its capital city, Cardiff. Apart from being the Welsh capital what would you usually associate with this city? Well, pretty much everything and anything Welsh. That is, well rugby, pretty much. This city has a lot more than ‘egg-chasing’ to offer mind and if you take a little time to look you will be surprised in the best sense of the word. Oh, and there is also plenty of rugby if that is your thing –  we did win the 6 nations and yes we are still talking about it. We’d like to take you through a few things about Cardiff and why it would make such an amazing venue for a hen party.

Rugger

Lets start off with the obvious as we can hardly side-step such an important Welsh passion and that is rugby. It is of course the national sport and Cardiff boasts two pretty impressive rugby venues. Firstly there is the Arms Park, home of the Cardiff Blues and with it comes the immense atmosphere and local feel of club rugby. More famously (and literally right next to the arms park) is the Millennium Stadium, it’s become an icon for Cardiff itself and is easily the most impressive rugby grounds in the country and definitely worth a visit on an international day.

Where do hen parties come into this? What could be more enjoyable than a trip to the rugby to take up some time in the day on your hen weekend in Cardiff? It is certainly not your average hen-party activity but that shouldn’t stop you! You not only will be able to fully soak up the Welsh culture in all its roaring glory but you get to stare at 30 odd buff men in very short shorts. And, you get to do all of this while drinking.

History

Cardiff is not short on history, this city has seen activity dating back as far as the Roman occupation. On the same area that saw a Roman fort now lies the stunning Cardiff Castle. Although it has seen some tasteful renovation in the last 200 years the walls and Norman keep date back to 11th century. It would be a shame to come to Cardiff and not soak up a bit of this glorious stucture, it couldn’t be anymore central and so getting to is a doddle. We suggest taking your girls and viewing this romantic castle as a great relaxed way to appreciate Cardiff in the daytime. Trust us, you will feel a lot better about getting drunk later on after you feel you have done some cultural stuff as well.

Nightlife

We have done some culture, some history and now it is time to explore the nightlife of this wonderful city. We cannot think of a better way to spend the evenings than soaking up the wonderful bars and restaurants of this city after a hard days sightseeing. Don’t believe what you have heard before, Cardiff has a lot to offer. It is an incredibly cosmopolitan city and so has something for everyone. Decide amongst yourselves what kind of food you fancy and take advantage of the broad array of popular chain, fine-dining and great family run eateries.

After food and a couple of glasses of wine you and your hens are going to want to start getting a bit rowdy and whipping out your inflatable willies and L-plates. Cardiff has your bog-standard super-clubs with names you will already recognise for you to go and get your dancing shoes on. It also has some great alternative options in the form of rock, jazz, and underground venues so you can really cater your evening to the bride-to-be and her tastes.

Cardiff really is an awesome choice for a hen weekend or even just an evening. It allows you to enjoy the usual benefits of a city break with the added fire of welsh culture and passion. We gurantee your hens will have a blast and maybe even stumble across some rugby players!
