Newcastle’s nightlife is pretty notorious. Even if you’ve never had the pleasure of visiting the North East, it’s likely that you’ll be familiar with some of the Toon’s most famous (and infamous!) bars. With the success of MTV’s Geordie Shore, tourism has had a huge boost in the area, but don’t let that put you off. If ‘getting mortal’ and ‘tashing on’ isn’t your thing then here’s a selection of some rather sophisticated boozers perfect for your Newcastle Hen Party.
Tokyo has a suitably darkened atmosphere for what some consider to be the best cocktail bar in town. Try Polynesian Cocktails within the voodoo snug or discover the upstairs garden bar where you can Drink, smoke and chat with a view.
The bar menu consists of twists on classics such as; Lemongrass Margaritas and Ginger and Lemon Mojitos. All floors are linked by the old original stairs which, painted in dark colours, creep up the side of the building. Hidden away in the basement of Tokyo is TIKI-O bar which holds up to 50 VIP’s, the perfect secret party location!
House of Smith
House of Smith is a ballroom to make Gatsby proud. Beyond the velvet rope and into the private lounge and bar, you’ll be greeted by 50’s glamour like you’ve only seen in the movies.
Skilled connoisseurs create classic cocktails and pop champagne corks all around as you watch aerobatic burlesque acts glide from the ceiling! This is a place of true elegance and luxury where you’ll be treated like VIP’s all night long. Make sure you dress to impress!
Miami wild child and international socialite Florita has been causing havoc on Collingwood Street for a while now, and she’s made a bit of a name for herself. Venture in from the cold and you might as well be in Miami as you’re surrounded by stunning and diverse décor. With tattoo style wall prints and a huge palm filled garden (surprising in a city centre bar), you can drink cocktails and listen to sun-drenched beats until the early hours.
Graced by Gaga, frequented by Fergie and raved about by Rihanna; there is no doubt about it Florita's Miami Bar and Tropical Gardens is the place to be seen! Just make sure you watch out for the zombie cocktails…!
Voted 'Newcastle's Most Impressive Watering Hole' by the Observer, the former first-class waiting room at Central Station is ideal for a pre-club drink in style, or a bit of pre-train hair of the dog after your Newcastle Hen Party!
The exquisitely ornate Victorian tile decoration reaching from floor to ceiling is said to be worth around four million pounds – if that doesn’t ooze glamour I don’t know what does! Welcoming ‘eclectic clientele’, you’re sure to love this stately bar.
Nicknamed ‘the busiest little bar in Newcastle; small but perfectly formed’, this bar is packed seven nights a week. Boasting an international DJ line-up and a set of sumptuous VIP booths, this venue has been featured on more television programmes than you can shake a cocktail at!
Home to hosts with the most, unique ladies toilets (complete with full mirrored wall), staff up for a laugh, great value drinks AND free entry every night, this bar is a must visit on your party weekend!
