Congratulations Natalie Muirhead, you are our hen party of the week! It looks like you and all 32 of your hens had an amazing time in Leeds last month, you wowed us so much that we hand-picked you to feature as a Real Life Hen. We want to show everyone just how much fun you had!
25-year-old Nursery Nurse, Natalie, from County Durham is soon-to-be Mrs. Reed as she’s getting hitched to her fiancé, Connal, in May this year. Natalie and Connal have been together 7 years and met the old-fashioned way, through BEBO (remember the days before Facebook and even Myspace)! Natalie enforced some serious girl power and sent him a message, to which he replied, and the rest is history.
Three years later, whilst watching TV in his house Connal decided to pop that big question that Natalie was waiting for, she says. “I was ready and waiting to get married.” They then chose the ring together and that’s when he got down on one knee, she admits that it was nothing fancy, but it was enough for her.
Natalie gathered her group of 32 girls together – including her mum, mother-in-law and aunties – to hit Leeds for her hugely anticipated hen weekend. The girls got a little rowdy on the train with bubbly and nibbles starting off the hen weekend in style, exactly as it they intended it to go on.
The hens then re-created a slumber party as part of their Girl’s Night In on Friday night. Natalie’s bridesmaids dressed the room with balloons, banners and decorations and her mum made cupcakes to soak up all the alcohol. The girls spent the night dancer-cising to Just Dance on the Wii in their pyjamas.
The girls also surprised Natalie with loads of personalised treats throughout the weekend. Her favourite was their acknowledgment of her obsession with bows, each hen got a little bow in their gift bags to wear over the weekend, along with their personalised t-shirts with Natalie’s name and a picture of her favourite Disney character – Minnie Mouse. Her work friends also personalised a zebra onesie with “Mrs Reed” written on the back, which was a fabulous surprise for Natalie.
On Saturday Natalie and her hens strutted their stuff to UKGirlThing’s Single Ladies dance class, they perfected the dance routine and now they’re all going to do the dance at the wedding! Single ladies went on to become their song of the weekend and they danced the night away on Saturday night.
Natalie’s favourite part of the weekend was Cocktail Making on Saturday afternoon, where the girls mixed and muddled cosmos and mojitos before finishing on a vodka train! “The bar man asked me what my favourite colour was and I told him it was Tiffany Green, my nails were painted the same colour so I showed them this. Then he made a vodka train of all greens with lemon and lime vodka and bubblegum flavour and I had to knock the first one with my tongue and make all the others fall into the glass, it was great!” she says.
Good luck for the big day Natalie!
