Why Crazy Hens come to Nottingham!

Birthplace to Robin Hood, Carl Froch and Torvill and Dean, Nottingham has certainly made itself know in the UK but now it’s known for a different reason – it’s insane nightlife. With the new arrival of Pryzm Nightclub it’s time to look back at the old and the new – and why Nottingham’s been attracting crazy hen and stag parties for many years!

Rock City

Built in 1980 Rock City was the gem of its time bringing Music into Nottingham in a way no venue ever had before. In 1982 it underwent a major refit including a purpose built sound system, lighting rig and two giant TV screens making it perfect live music venue. To this day many famous acts have performed there including U2 in 1981, Simply Red in 1985, Guns N Roses in 1987, and more recently acts such as Amy Winehouse, Dizzee Rascal, Ellie Goulding, Dappy, Bastille, Scouting for Girls and Wiz Khalifa, just to name a few.  Rock City has more than made it’s stamp on Nottingham and Friday nights “Get Lucky” featuring pop music from the 1900s, 2000s and current hits always goes down a storm with hen and stag groups.

Pryzm (Previously Oceana)

Up until June this year one of Nottinghams biggest club features was Oceana – that boasted two club areas, four bars & a restaurant giving it 6 rooms overall. With a capacity of 2590 people it was again unlike anything Nottingham had ever seen. Now Pryzm is the largest venue in Nottingham and boasts a classy martini lounge, a disco room, a tiki bar and a speciality bar offering beers from around the world. The range of rooms make Pryzm the perfect place for crazy hens to enjoy a range of music and dance the night away! Look out for Fresh Fridays where you can get free entry and half price drinks before 11pm!

Gatecrasher (Now Ink)

Located on Queens Street, Gatecrasher took over from Media Nightclub in 2007 and underwent a one million pound refurb. Gatecrasher was yet another of Nottinghams well known live music venues based over 3 floors and helped put Nottingham firmly on the map in terms of entertainment. For many years Gatecrasher was the hub of Nottingham, seeing performers such as Afrojack perform and wow the crowds. It has now been replaced by another newcomer – Ink Nightclub. In 2015 Nottingham welcomed the arrival of Ink which gave us 4 themed rooms – The parlour room , cocktail club, neon room & trash mansion. Ever since it’s opening Ink has gone down a storm with hens and locals alike with a great turn out especially on “Ink Saturdays” where you can enjoy the 4 themed rooms kitted out with 8 bars.

Bodega

Bodega is one of Nottinghams more alternative clubs playing a range of hip-hop, garage, reggae and occasionally really cheesy throwback pop songs. A comparatively small venue compared to the above, Bodega still makes for a crazy night out for visiting hens with a more upper-class feel and awesome cocktails!
