For the wedding of Jane and Brandon Roberts, the couple knew they wanted their wedding to be uniquely theirs. Never one to follow trends, the couple decided that they wanted their big day to reflect their tastes as well as creating the ultimate guest experience. To create their dream day, it all started with the bride’s vision for the ceremony and reception, which took place at Gettysvue Polo, Golf & Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The couple met in 2006 where they both attended a Halloween Party at the University of Tennessee. Their friendship later led to a romance and Brandon proposed to Jane at the Octagonal Garden at Middleton Place, outside of Charleston, South Carolina on her birthday.
After their engagement, the real wedding planning was in full swing once Jane found her dream dress!
Getting Ready
For the couple’s July 1st, 2017 wedding, the bride wore a stunning Justin Alexander silk and lace ball gown purchased at The Gilded Gown in Knoxville, TN.
I knew the style of gown that I was looking for from the beginning. I was very lucky, because the dress that I found I actually bought off the rack, and it was the only one of its kind available.
I had visions of the wedding theme and where I wanted to take it very early on into the planning process, and I’d decided that the pinnacle of dress fashion was late 1950’s, Christian Dior. Finding the wedding dress was really my starting point for the rest of the planning. I was inspired by Grace Kelly in the film “To Catch a Thief,” and I just really love the late 1950’s wedding style elements, so I wanted to add a new take on them.
The Ceremony
Our wedding ceremony was accompanied by a beautiful string quartet and harp, and we worked with our Officiant to select vows that were meaningful to us. We kept the ceremony short & sweet!
Our color scheme of powder blues and ivory made me think of summer skies, and I had to have an element of tulle somewhere in the visuals, so that’s where the Bridesmaids dresses came in. The mantillas veils were just as important to me as the wedding dress. The Groomsmen wore shawl lapels which had a retro flair to them.
The Reception
We knew that we wanted our reception to be the best time that any guest ever had at a wedding. We had everything from champagne toasts, a full course dinner, and music from Led Zeppelin to Bossa Nova. We wanted to have plenty of time to celebrate with our wedding guests, and we achieved that.
I would have to say our [favorite wedding moment was our] First Dance to “Thank you” by Led Zeppelin, because in that moment we finally were able to slow the events of the day down, and all that hard work of planning was behind us, so it was time to celebrate.
