Last Minute New Year’s Eve Ideas

With the mad rush and hustle and bustle of preparing for Christmas day, it’s easy for New Year’s Eve celebrations to sneak up on you. To ensure you’re not faced with the dreaded fear of guests turning up to last minute planning of cheese and pineapple sticks and Wham’s greatest hits playing in the background, we’ve put together some quick and easy ideas so that you can bring in the New Year in style (you can thank us later)!

SETTING THE SCENE

Get everyone in the Party mood by replacing your normal bright bulbs with coloured bulbs. Add to the party atmosphere with DIY glitter balloons and paper chains.

MAKE IT MEMORABLE

A brilliant idea to mark the occasion is to set up your own New Year’s resolution photo booth. You will need to create a backdrop and there are various ways this can be done. You can use a white sheet and hang this from a curtain pole and for added effect place some white fairy lights behind. Alternatively, find a blank wall space and decorate with New Year’s Eve banners and black and gold helium balloons. You’ll need to supply a camera with a stand (or selfie stick!) and some funny props. Ideas for props are moustache’s on straws, 2016 glasses, feather boas and wigs! Supply a small whiteboard or paper and pen and let guests write down their resolution for the photo to make a great party memory!

THE BUILD UP

Create your own hourly countdown with balloons! Simply fill the balloons with sparkly confetti and write an hour on each balloon (for example, 2pm-12am). When the hour strikes the balloon with that hour can be popped! This is a great way to build the suspense and keep the kids (and big kids!) entertained.

A TASTY ALTERNATIVE

Entertain your guests with bubbly Jelly shots! These fun party nibbles are sure to be a pleaser! It’s as easy as making packet jelly but using your favourite bottle of bubbly instead of water before placing in the fridge to set. Add some glamour to your shots by adding edible glitter and red berries into your jelly mix before setting!

KEEP IT FUN

Keep on theme with this New Year’s Eve party game! Simply make cut outs of New Year’s questions, for example “The most embarrassing moment of the year’, “The moment you laughed the hardest this year” and “The best piece of advice you were given this year”, and place in a decorated box. Get your guests to take it in turns to pick out a question card  and answer – this is a great way to break the ice and get guests chatting, there’s bound to be a few giggles along the way too!
