19 Benefits of Living Alone

For five years I have been Living away from home with other people in shared accommodation and various house-shares, and now the time has arrived where I finally have my very own flat! Although an expensive and scary move, it’s so worth it! I figured I’d do a light-hearted post featuring what I believe are the benefits of living alone!
- No Bathroom Schedule. I’m not talking about Sheldon’s strict bathroom schedule out of The Big Bang Theory, but instead not having to rush to be the first in the shower to avoid being late for work in the mornings!

- No fighting over the heating. If you’re cold, turn that bitch up!

- Watch what you want. If you want to watch those soppy soaps, go ahead! Even cry if you want to…You own that remote.

- Decorate your new home how YOU want to. Instead of being restricted to one room, decorate the entire flat/house how you want it.

- Peace and quiet. There’s no more being woken up by someone else in the house singing, banging around in the kitchen or generally just being loud. Unless you have extremely noisy neighbours, you can enjoy peace.

- Get over your fears. Not all my fears can be addressed by living alone, but a few have been settled! Sleeping in the dark is now bearable, slight noises in the night aren’t so scary and are somewhat comforting (in a weird way), and you start to man up when you see a spider coming your way. Come at me bitch, I’m ready for you!

- Dance like no one’s watching. Because no one is, unless you leave the blinds open...

- The Wi-Fi works like a dream. No more buffering *insert heart emoji*

- Buy as much food as you want. No longer are you restricted to one shelf in the fridge, one crammed draw in the freezer and a tiny cupboard.

- No more waiting hours on end for housemates to take their washing out of the machine.

- Had a bad day? You get to go home to your own space.

- Own that stage and sing to your hearts content when in the shower. No one can hear…you hope.

- There’s no more feeling Awkward when you have friends and family round.

- Let’s face it, clothing is optional. There’s no feeling like you have to get fully dressed to make yourself a cuppa in the morning.

- You don’t need to deal with other people’s habits; leaving the toilet seat up, dirty dishes piling up in the sink, or even deciding to do a spring clean in the house at 6am on a Sunday morning.

- Independence rocks! Although I’ve been living away from home for 5 years, you feel so much more independent when living completely alone.

- Got mail? There’s no worries of someone else misplacing it.

- No awkward experiences of hearing your housemates have sex. As for the neighbours…well that’s another story.

- Be as Messy as you like. I’m not a messy person, but at least I won’t be judged if I forgot – correction. Could not be bothered – to wash the pots the night before.

Do you live alone? What do you like best?
