Dreaming of Amsterdam

For quite some time now I've been Dreaming of going to Amsterdam, just for a couple days, to take in the historic sites and get snappy happy with my camera. I'm a huge fan of visiting places that have lots of quirky cafes and eateries, albeit that's obviously not my main reason for wanting to visit Amsterdam. That'd be one expensive coffee to go!

The windmills, tulip fields, Anne Frank Museum, I AMsterdam landmark, the canals, bike rides, you name it, I want to do it! If you've ever been to Amsterdam, be sure to either share your favourite memories, places, and even share a link in the comments below of your Travel diary of your visit to the historic city - even if it was years ago!

Like many who dream of going to certain cities and other locations, I plan ahead and start looking at what I'd need to book in advance, but also what hotels are suitable for my travels. I prefer to stay in a Hotel that is within short walking distance to the main city/attractions, and the DoubleTree hotel seems to be the one that keeps cropping up. Anyone stayed there?

It's close to some of the main attractions, but close enough to public transport to be able to travel when need be. Better yet, when you're done with the day and are ready to retire back to your 'home' during you travels, the hotel doubles as a great attraction itself. It hosts themed nights and has live music for great entertainment, has a cheeky Starbucks on site so you can treat yourself to your favourite cup of joe in the morning without having to stray too far, plus it's just a nice, stylish hotel that offers all the essentials. Once I've got a definite date in mind that I can work around easily, I'm definitely going to get booking asap! Better yet, they have 15% off right now. Eek!
