Do you have to be somebody?!

Do you remember your childhood? Those days when you knew less words than the number of your fingers? I see that unforgettable peace. Peace which used to be available every day. I used to do only those activities which I liked and I used to avoid those which I didn’t like. I used to hug with my parents for hours. My world has been controlled by feelings and emotions which I fully understood. There was no past and no future. I used to be myself! I didn’t have to pretend anything and I used to authentic. Just like you!

The very first serious lie we got to believe

I don’t know how were your grandmas but mine immediately knew who I was going to be, what kind of life I was going to have and, mostly, how much I was going to be earning. I didn’t even know how to read properly but my grandmother figured out I was going to become a “doctor” right away. Since then I didn’t hear anything else when visiting her. She kept saying: “You have to be a doctor! You have to study well! Because if you don’t do it, you won’t get anywhere and you will be nobody!” Nobody? There is no way, I should become a Doctor.

I bet a lot of you got to believe this lie. We have to become somebody in order to mean something in life! And you have to do this and that! The most important is not to be yourself!

First masks and roles we are playing

If we Believed that we have to become somebody, we believed we are nobody. We believed in a lie which is being wrapped in other and other lies. Our life has changed into reaching the task to be somebody. To be a better person than others. To be somebody who is valued by people. In a thinking that as soon as we become somebody, we will find the peace and freedom we have been longing for. Is it really that way? As soon as I would finally become a doctor, I would figure out I wanted to be a surgeon! And then a head of department! Still and still not pleasant attempting to become somebody better.

Pretending to be someone else is really tiring!

Do you even know when you truly are yourself? You wear a mask of serious professional at work. With you friends you wear a mask of funny and pleasant man. It is totally different mask at home. Which of these masks is really you? Do you even know it? You play roles 24 hours a day. And why? Just to make an impression? Just to meet society’s expectations?

You have to do nothing!

Isn’t it freeing? To be yourself, you don’t have to do completely anything. It doesn’t cost any effort. It is enough for you to be. Exactly as those little kids we used to be. Just remember it. What was the cause of you forgetting it? it was a language! Words and speech we have learnt. People’s opinions we have heard. Opinions from TV we have been listening on daily basis. And what have we done? Believed them. We believed the voice in our head which comments on everything, deploring and judging. That’s exactly what happened.

We got to believe the lie of imperfection.

We got to believe that we are not perfect. Because after all nobody is perfect. This sentence has become our excuse totally on everything. Why would have God created us as imperfect ones? After all he has created us based on his own image! It means God would have to be imperfect, as well. You surely are perfect! There is nothing missing on you and you don’t have to play anybody else. Be yourself! Do not live in a lie anymore and open yourself to this beautiful truth. Only you can do it.
