Continuing on from part one, I thought I would share the journey of our Living Room with you…
As I mentioned previously, the layout was originally a long living/dining room and we wanted to make them separate rooms. So, after doing some stripping (of the walls 😉) that’s just what we did.
We asked the Building Company who knocked down the kitchen wall to build this one at the same time and decided to add double doors in between the rooms. Much to the grumps surprise (he always expects a problem), the wall went up and the doors went in all too smoothly. Then, (much to the grumps ‘delight’) it all went a little downhill…
The builder doing the work got a contracted plasterer in, just to plaster that one wall. This he did, but he also managed to cover our new doors in plaster! 😳 Can you imagine the grumps reaction to this…nightmare! Mark got straight on the phone to the building company and after speaking to the owner, he assured us he would fix this! And, luckily..he did! He came to the house and scrubbed the doors clean himself.
To make the living room bigger, we (well, I 😉) also decided to knock out the chimney breast. Again, I had some pursuing to do, but the grump agreed and one Saturday, Mark, my dad and my bro-in-law Matt, set to work on knocking it out.
I’m not going to lie to you, half way through this I began to wonder why I had even suggested it. The mess was just unbelievable and the glare I was getting from the grump was not pleasant, particularly when he had an intimidating drill in his hand! 😳
But after lots of mess and numerous cups of tea, they got there….
Finally, I was able to start making the room look pretty! 😊
Yes! They are models of Formula 1 cars! And, yes! That is a model of a Formula 1 helmet you can see…after decorating the room rather pink, how could I say no!! (Although, he was only allowed ones that went with the colour scheme!😉)
