Photo Credit We’ve just stepped into 2021 and many of us are looking to make a fresh start for the new year. 2020 was difficult and, seeing as it looks like we’re going to be dealing with the coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic for a while longer, it’s important that we start to make changes to our lives that help us to cope and get on with this new way of living. One major step? Making our homes a comfortable and enjoyable space to spend time in. As governments around the world have asked us to spend more time indoors away from people in different households, you should do your utmost to make your home a better space. The first step you can take in this journey? Decluttering. Sure, we all tend to do regular chores, cleaning work surfaces, vacuuming, mopping, and more, but this simply cleans the space. It doesn’t get rid of the mess and clutter that can build up and leave us feeling stressed or overwhelmed. By decluttering, you can remove items that needn’t be in your home, helping to create a clearer and more enjoyable space to spend time in. Here are some things you can do to achieve this! Organize Start out by organizing what you want to keep and what you don’t. This can be difficult, as we all worry that we’ll find some future use for a particular item and regret throwing it away. But this rarely happens. Look at your belongings. If you have something that you haven’t used in the past year and that has no real sentimental value, it’s time for it to go. Sell What You Can Once you have the items you no longer want or need gathered together, determine which items can be sold. This is a simple and fast way to clean your house and make some money at the same time. There are a number of sales platforms out there, but the most popular tend to be eBay. Make quality listings and then get eBay items shipped for less. Recycle and Donate When Possible You’ll then be left with items that won’t realistically sell. Where possible, see whether these items can be donated to charity or recycled. This will help to reduce waste and prevent the items from ending up in landfills. Instead, they can go on to a better life somewhere else. Make the Most of Storage Solutions For the items that you are keeping and do have use for, look into clever storage solutions. This will help to arrange and store the belongings in a tidy and clutter-free manner. You’ll still be able to access them, but they won’t take up your whole living space! Decluttering will prove to be one of the best things you can do for your home. Hopefully, some of the above steps will make all the difference and help you to reclaim your living space!
