(pxhere CC0) Despite the recent pandemic (that is scarier than any trick or treater in a ghoul mask), Halloween isn’t canceled.  Your kids’ school might still be opening its door for some socially distanced partying, with the staff walking around in Halloween teacher shirts and the kids wandering around in whatever ghoulish costumes their parents have dreamt up. And you can have some Halloween fun at home too, without the distraction of any local children knocking on your door begging for candy. So, fear not if you are wondering what to do during this most spooky of days, as we have some suggestions for what you can do at home with your family below. #1: Enjoy some scary movies Okay, so there will be some movies you definitely shouldn’t let your children watch. Some horror films are strictly adult-only, so hold off on these until after your children are safely tucked up in bed. However, there are lots of ‘scary’ movies that have been made with family audiences in mind, including Goosebumps, Monster House, and any of the Ghostbusters movies. Check out this list of scary movies that kids can watch, and settle down together under a blanket as you feast on your Halloween goodies.  #2: Play some Halloween games Aside from the usual games, you might play on Halloween – bobbing for apples, eating doughnuts off pieces of string – there are loads of other games you could play too. You could play ‘pin the spider on the web,’ for example, which is a twist on the classic donkey game. Or you could have a toilet paper relay race, by turning your kids into mummies with rolls of loo paper, and have them race around an obstacle course in your garden made up of pumpkins and ghoulish objects. You can find these ideas and more in this Halloween game guide, so have a look and try something new this year.  #3: Enjoy some healthy Halloween snacks Is there anything scarier to your children than their dentist? Remind them of him (we’re sure he’s very nice really) when they’re pestering you for sweets, and tempt them with some healthier alternatives instead. With this fresh approach to protecting everybody’s dental health, you will all have something good to eat, and you won’t have nightmares about any frightful dental bills.  From ‘frozen banana mummies’ to ‘guacamole vampires,’ check out these healthy Halloween snack ideas.  #4: Get crafty with your kids If you’re looking to decorate your home with items that will freak out your cat and terrify your nosey neighbors, why not get busy with some Halloween crafts? This will be cheaper than buying decor from the supermarket, and you will have more activities for your children to do on Halloween morning. So, check out these Halloween craft ideas, and fill your home with paper Jack O’ Lanterns, ghostly balloons, and yarn-wrapped mummies! So, don’t let your little monsters get bored this Halloween. Use our ideas, come up with a few of your own, and treat your family to a day of fun (and not frightful) activities. Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post.
