This post is now in the guidelines of the FTC Setting up a blog, optimising it and even securing it can be a difficult task. If you want to make everything easier on yourself then I’m here to provide you with some of the steps you need to take. Choose the Right Platform I think that the first thing you need to do is choose the right platform. If you have never even thought about blogging before then you may want to go with Blogger, WordPress or even Medium. The one problem here is that some of these platforms are limiting, so you need to do your research so that you can find one that is more suited to your needs. I would personally recommend WordPress as it’s got a huge range of features and you may even find that you can buy a theme if you want. Find the Perfect Domain Name It can be hard for you to choose the right domain name. That being said, it’s super important that you get it right. I think that your domain name should be something that reflects your personality and what you plan on posting. Remember that if you want to make money, you need something memorable as well as something that is easy to remember. Take my own domain name, for example. A lot of people come to me and they ask me about what extension they should use, and my answer is always the same. You’re making a big mistake if you don’t go with the .com extension. If you do have to go with something else, then make the extra effort to make sure that your domain name is short and sweet. I would also highly recommend investing in a physical address, so you can make your site look more professional. Choose the Right Host Choosing the right website host is another important decision. I know that the idea of free hosting can be tempting but you have to remember that this is a bad idea. I can assure you that it will cost you way more in the long run and that you also end up losing out on customer trust as well. There are so many different types of hosting for you to choose from, such as managed hosting VPS and even shared hosting. I can’t tell you which one to go with, but I can say that you need to make sure that you choose one that not only suits the needs of your budget, but also your site. Regular Backups Users don’t often think about backups until it is far too late. I know that backing up your site can be difficult, and it can also be time-consuming as well, but at the end of the day, it’s crucial because if you don’t then you may end up making a huge mistake. I’ve always said that backing up is your first line of defence if your site comes under attack. Sure, you might not think that this is going to happen to you but at the end of the day, it can, and you need to be ready for it. Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post.
