Heart Failure Week (#HFWeek) is a time to go deeper into the effects of heart disease, and reflect on ways that we can improve our daily routines in order to live a healthier lifestyle.
Award-winning actress, singer, songwriter and producer Queen Latifah and her mother have joined the American Heart Association’s Rise Above Heart Failure movement to spread the word about heart failure and to help others understand the signs and symptoms of the condition, and how to manage it.
“What I’ve learned is, you can’t change the past, but you can change the future.” says Ms. Owens.
Watch as Queen Latifah and her Mom Rita Owens share their story of Rita’s initial warning signs of heart failure, her diagnosis, and what she and her family are doing to better safeguard her health, like creating a heart healthy wellness plan, and more. Queen Latifah also reveals what life has been like for the two of them and they work together to help Ms. Owens live a longer, healthier life.
#HFWeek begins today. Check out this video to learn some of what my mom and I went through during her diagnosis and the steps we’re taking to help her #RiseAboveHF
