Did you know that breast cancer is the top cancer in women worldwide? And did you know that 1 in 20 Malaysians develop breast cancer at some stage in life?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and all shades of pink are highly visible through town and on social media. Many businesses in KL support this cause by selling items for charity, raising awareness by giving discounts or hosting Pinktober related events. Have a look at our selection. Please keep in mind to inquire if online shopping with home delivery is an option, at least for the duration of the current CMCO.

Promotions and events

Bowerhaus

Jewelry shop Bowerhaus offers Pink Ribbons for sale. All proceeds collected will be donated in full to The Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group. The Pink Ribbons are available at these stores in Kuala Lumpur.

Batik Boutique

Batik Boutique supports this cause by donating 10% of every product purchased under their Pink Collection to a charity that supports and empowers breast cancer survivors. All their products are handmade by artisans. Check their Pink Collection here for online orders.

Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur

The hospital offers walk in breast screens at the Breast Care Centre, at Pantai Hospital from 9am-5pm. Breast screening for women age 40 and above are subsidised. You can call the hospital at 03 2296 0837 during office hours, to find out more about the best screening package for you. Location: 8, Jalan Bukit Pantai, Kuala Lumpur.

Gleneagles Hospitals

Turn up the Pink! For the whole month of October, the hospital is offering a breast screening promotion. More info here. You can also call them on 03 4141 3282/3381 or you can Whatsapp to 012-285 5144. Please check the current SOPs with the hospital before you go.

Isetan Kuala Lumpur

Pink for Charities by Isetan is running from 9 October till 2 November. They have created a limited edition Pink October anniversary collection, in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia. 80% of profits from each set will be channeled to BCWA. A set comes with a linen face mask, hair accessory and a lapel pin. There are also a lot of items on sale at Isetan. Proceeds go to the BCWA. More info here.

Kantoi

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, all proceeds from the Pink October Collection will go to the Cancer Centre at the Tung Shin Hospital in KL. Each bag goes for RM25, and a box of all five bags for RM100. Check out their tote bags collection here.

High teas and other treats

The new SOPs related to the current CMCO state that patrons can still make visits to restaurants. However, only two persons per table are allowed at the moment. Please bear this in mind when making bookings for the events below. Of course, you can always inquire for take away food or home delivery orders.

Shangri-La Hotel

With a collection of savoury treats and a sweet creations, the hotel is celebrating Pinktober with their Pink Afternoon Tea in the Lobby Lounge. Kind Kones

Kind Kones is an all-natural vegan ice cream brand with four outlets in Klang Valley. ​If you order a special double scoop of Raspberry Ripple and Strawberry, they give 20% to Pink Unity. Have a look at their FB page to find the locations of their outlets, or simply order online from them here.

Beast by BIG

Beast by BIG in Plaza Batai supports the @breastcancerwelfareassociation from 1-31 October with their ‘BeauTEA Parlour’ afternoon tea menu. To raise awareness and education on breast cancer, 20% of proceeds will be donated to the BCWA.

Dorsett Hotels

The hotel has started a campaign called Paint the Town Pink! It runs from 7-28 October and it offers a lot of promotions for ladies dressed in pink… The promotion is valid on Wednesdays only. Dorsett Hotels offers 20% off F & B bills, please check with the hotel outlets. Ladies born in October get a complimentary Iced Bandung for every order of Lunch On The Go (at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur). The RuMa Hotel and Residences

Enjoy the Rose Pompon Afternoon Tea at the hotel in support of the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) Malaysia throughout October. Priced at RM130 nett per person, the Afternoon Tea comes with a complimentary Goutal Rose Pompon sample and a RM50 voucher for purchase of the perfume. 10% of sales will be donated to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia.

Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the hotel introduces their Afternoon Chari-Tea until 31 October. A portion of the proceeds will be used to sponsor underprivileged women from the @malaysiandeafsports for a mammogram screening, in collaboration with the @nationalcancersocietymy.

Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Though dine-in seatings are limited to two, celebrations and gatherings for two can still continue. Try the afternoon special-edition, pink-hued, three-tier afternoon tea. Priced at RM188 per person, RM 10 from every purchase will be contributed to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia. More info here.
