Calling all meat lovers! If you’re not a vegetarian and you enjoy a perfectly grilled steak, Brasserie Léon in TTDI is the place for your next dinner or lunch with the family. This casual brasserie offers authentic French cuisine at reasonable prices. We took the kids with us for a lunch at the restaurant and this is what we found!
The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very cozy yet elegant, with relaxed French music in the background.
The staff is very helpful and friendly and always walk around with a smile on their faces. For those who prefer alfresco dining, the restaurant has got a small outdoor terrace as well.
We entered our journey into French cuisine with a delicious assortment of starters (called ‘bites’ on the menu) and the kids tried escargots for the first time. There was deep-fried brie cheese with red onion chutney, baked shell-less escargots and flamed cured mackerel in cucumber and shallots vinaigrette. This all came with homemade bread and butter.
For our main meal we chose their signature dish: ‘Grilled Australian grain-fed beef’, which was cooked to perfection, it was very tender and absolutely delicious. It was served with their ‘secret sauce’, Homemade French Fries and green salad. We also had the roasted spring chicken, which is a great option if you’re not much into red meats.
For dessert, I chose crème brûlée, the kids shared the creamy 70% dark chocolate mousse and my husband had the tiramisu terrine with homemade espresso genoise.
All the dishes were really tasty and we cannot say that there was anything we didn’t like. Everything was freshly made and tasted like what you would expect to eat at a restaurant in France. The only item we missed on the menu were fresh-squeezed juice options for the kids. For the adults though there is an extensive beer and wine list.
The kids’ favourite was the deep-fried brie cheese, while the homemade French fries were a hit for the whole family. For my husband and me, the highlight of our lunch was the grilled Australian grain-fed beef. Definitely a must try! All the steaks at Léon are from grass-fed cattle. This is definitely a plus for families like us, who are always looking for healthier food choices.
What we thought:
We would recommend the restaurant for families with older kids, as there is no entertainment for toddlers, no kids play area or a kids’ menu. Although on the day we visited, the clientele was a mix of couples and groups of friends and there was also a family with a toddler. So if you’ve got younger kids, it might be good to bring some colouring books for example. If you’re with a big group, reservations are recommended, but otherwise you can just walk in.
Leon is located in TTDI, on the first floor of ‘The Greens’. Parking was easy at one of the adjacent streets and it was just a short walk from there to Léon. We had a very pleasant experience and will definitely return. Check out their opening hours here.
Our lunch was on invitation by Léon. As always, our opinions are honest and our own.
