Osteria Cotta – a Little Italian Hideaway in NYC

Wandering around the Upper West Side of NYC recently I was looking for a spot to meet a friend for a few happy hour cocktails. I happened to discover Osteria Cotta nestled in spot off 85th and Columbus. I peeked in and viewed a really nice little joint. Very rustic feel. Lots of wood, brick, and iron lamps hanging from the ceiling. Had to go inside to check out the bar area and look around.

Two stories with dining seating on both levels, main bar on lower floor, and some outside seating. Open kitchen to watch pizzas being made in the brick ovens. Love this kind of ambiance.

Happy hour? Solid! Sit at the bar from 5-7pm on Mon-Wed and enjoy a really good happy hour on drinks and menu items. 3-7pm happy hour Thurs and Fri. Can’t go wrong here.

It’s always a joy to be welcomed by friendly bartenders. Was greeted when I took a seat at the bar and handed a happy hour specific menu. If you have a thirst for a draft beer or good Glass of Wine there are just the right amount to choose from. Beers in the $3.50 – $4.50 range. Wines for around $5 a glass with a generous pour.

( Don’t you just hate a weak pour? It really irks me when I purchase a glass of wine and they barely fill the glass a third or half way. I was pretty happy with the pour here. Love me some wine! Fill up my glass! )

If you want some eats to go along with that happy hour drink they offer a $1 meatball on the menu, along with an assortment of pizzas in the $6 – $8 range. FYI – you can only get the happy hour deals at the bar. I saw many around me chowing down on those meatballs and pizzas. Next time for sure, as I was just here for a some wine on this visit.

Wonderful little bistro that is a terrific spot to unwind after a long day at work, take a date, or meet up with a friend over drinks.
