After much anticipation and some sleepless nights spent googling about this Fragrance - it's finally in my collection, Joop (pronounced as Yop) Homme.
This fragrance was introduced in the 80s and as can be expected from something from that era, Joop Homme is in your face loud and unapologetic. This much is true and common from all the reviews I have read on frantica.com as well from parfumistas on youtube.com.
Some people love this fragrance others find this as vile or obnoxious. In my experience a spray is nice. One gets a whiff of something manly that quickly fades into a spell of powdery sweetness which lasts until the fragrance naturally fades from the skin. Longevity of this scent is highly commendable. A single spritz last 8 hours easily perhaps even longer.
Leaving a scent trail with this one is easy. Joop Homme's sillage or projection is comparable to wildfire in the arid Australian outback. It easily fills the room and if one is too happy with the trigger, 4 sprays on a small space when the temperature rises will make this fragrance so strong that it is enough to suffocate someone.
On large open spaces and on cold nights 4 sprays would be okay. I have been using this fragrance for more than a month now and I can say I love it.
A friend of mine said that what I have now is still incomparable to the vintage Joop Homme, because as well now most fragrance houses are watering down or reformulating their products as years go by. But I don't mind. It still out performs a lot of scents in the market.
Here in the Philippines I was able to purchase this off ebay for 1,800 PHP. It is a good deal since the bottle comes at 125ml and one doesn't need to use a lot of this stuff to get scented.
Joop Homme is indeed a powerhouse fragrance but I have to say it is not something that would easily get a compliment. Those who are into very sweet and strong smell loves this. But there are those like one of my friends who even with one spray finds it harsh.
This fragrance carries this message: I am loud and proud!
