Did you know?Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women.
1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer during their lifetime.
Over 250,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in woman in 2017.
Over 40,00 women will die from breast cancer in 2017.
The Good News
Death rates from breast cancer have been declining since 1989, in part due to better screening and early detection, increase awareness, and continually improving treatment options.
At this time there are more than 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.

Annual screening mammography beginning at age 40.
Breast self-examination is optional but beneficial. Women who choose to self-examine should received instructions from their health providers.
Clinical breast examination every three years for women in their 20s and 30s, and annually for women who are 40 and older.
