6 Natural Remedies To Help Your Child’s Earache

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com), May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my honest opinion on my blog. The opinions posted are my own.

I’ve been pretty lucky in the ear department when it comes to my kids. They’ve maybe had one ear infection each when they were younger than two years old. On the other hand, I have friends whose children have had Earache after earache and eventually had to get tubes put in.

In case you didn’t know, there is a different between and earache and an ear infection. While typically an earache can be resolved with home remedies an ear infection requires antibiotics. However, an earache can be a symptom of an ear infection but not always. Here are some natural ways to help an earache:

Heat

When your child’s ear is hurting, a warm compress can ease the pain quite a bit. Simply apply it over the hurt ear for as long as they want. You can make your own heat pack using rice and a sock or purchase one at any drug store.

Steam

Steam can open and relax airways, quite literally. It loosens everything up and can cause your child’s nose to run which relieves ear pressure.

Depending on your child’s age, you can let them inhale steam from a humidifier, a hot shower, or even a pot of boiling water. As a bonus, if you add an essential oil like eucalyptus to the water it can have a slight anesthetic effect as well.

Apple Cider Vinegar And Rubbing Alcohol

A 50/50 mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar and rubbing alcohol has been known to work for some people. Put a few drops in the ear canal, let sit for a few seconds, then drain completely. The vinegar acts as a mild antiseptic and the alcohol dries out any moisture that might be causing a problem.

My husband suffers from earaches quite often. His solution is to put rubbing alcohol in his ears anytime he is in water. So after a shower, he puts a few drops of rubbing alcohol in his ears then lets it drain. Seems to do the trick for him!

Hydrogen Peroxide

Placing a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in your ear can help. Let it sit in the affected ear until it stops bubbling, then drain it. The bubbling effect helps dislodge anything that might be in there as well as killing any bacteria.

ClearPop Rapid Earache Relief

This is a cool sucker like solution to earaches that kids LOVE. ClearPop’s unique design conforms to your child’s mouth to increase the negative pressure, drawing any fluids from the ear out while they suck.

It’s packed with all natural ingredients that taste great. My kids adored the flavor and would eat it like candy if I let them. It totally tastes like a lemon drop!

As a mom, I love that ClearPop Rapid Earache Relief is an all natural solution so it can be taken in combination with any other medication if it came down to it.

One of its main ingredients is xylitol. Xylitol is a sweetener typically found in fruits like plums and raspberries. It has a unique ability to prevent the growth of bacteria, including in the middle ear.

In a clinical trial, 88% of kids got relief from ClearPop Rapid Earache Relief within 20 minutes! It’s a nice and easy solution to try at the onset of an earache. Especially if one occurs during the middle of the night when you too sleepy to mess with other remedies.

See A Doctor

Usually, if there has been no improvement in their pain within 48 hours of its onset medical attention is probably required. A doctor will be able to provide them with antibiotics and recommend pain relievers to get them on the mend ASAP.
