Do you all ever get your Hair styled by someone? Or do you always style your hair on your own? I'm really curious about this answer! I know there are some subscriptions for salons like Dry Bar where you can go and have your hair blown out periodically (I think the max they offer is 2x per month in our area).

I was thinking about this a lot because my Grammie and Grandma used to go to the salon practically every week and have their hair done! It was so common back then and now, I can't say I really know anyone that gets their hair styled professionally on a regular basis!

I don't. In fact, I don't really love places like Dry Bar. It's a treat, sure, but I also don't think there are many people who handle my hair well and so I usually leave disappointed or feel like the money was wasted because I could do just as good of a job at home on my own... for free.

I also leave my own hair appointments (when I get highlights and a trim) with damp/wet hair because it's such a time-consuming process to blow out my hair since I have thick hair, long hair, and a lot of it. If I go in for a full head of highlights and a trim, I'm easily in there for 3+ hours. A blowdry would add at least 45 mins to an hour to that! I just don't have that kind of time to have spent on my hair nor do I think I have the patience for it!

What got me thinking about this is all of the older shows and movies that I have been watching and love. I recently watched To Catch A Thief, and in my opinion, it is one of the best Grace Kelly movies! I just love Grace Kelly. She is stunning, has beautiful style and exudes elegance.

Throughout To Catch a Theif, I noticed that a lot of her hairstyles are somewhat similar to my beloved Samantha Stevens in Bewitched. If you are a Mad Men fan, Betty styles her hair like this sometimes and the same with Jackie O! It's like this slicked-back, but still voluminous, smooth, curled hairstyle. Is there a name for this? I have no idea. I think it could potentially look dated/costumey in many instances in today's world but on Grace Kelly, Betty Draper, etc. it just looks so elegant and polished!

I'm soooooo tempted to go somewhere and have my hair done like this by a professional just for fun to see what it would look like and to learn how to do it on my own. I'm thinking it takes a lot of hairspray! I just love old movies and the styles that were popular around 1950/1960. I find myself really longing for that style from the clothes to the shoes and the hair and makeup! Maybe I will be Samantha Stevens for Halloween this year, ha!!!

I think what I love most about this hairstyle is that there is not even a single hair out of place. It just looks so polished

Anyway, tell me, do you all ever have your hair styled by a professional or do you ever totally switch up your hair? I am someone who is pretty set in my ways because I know what works well for me and my hair and my lifestyle!
