Laura and Lewis are one of the friendliest, funniest, craziest couples I’ve worked with. Everyone was just genuinely thrilled to celebrate the day with the couple.
Laura was excited about everything and Lewis was possibly the most emotional groom I’ve met. He couldn’t wait to see Laura walk down the aisle – and was so nervous while she kept him waiting. Laura just constantly chats about anything and everything – I feel like I really know them. Their families were both so welcoming too and everyone was enthusiastic to come outside for portraits even when it started to rain.
Lewis’s speech was the sweetest and most emotional I’ve ever heard a groom say, he even made me well up! Good job I could hide behind my camera!
When the sun did come out and I suggested we head into the rose garden for some portraits, Laura was completely ready to go and get her shoes a bit muddy and her dress a bit wet – there was no hesitation about it.
I love it when couples are so keen to go along with ideas and suggestions. Their family was equally as happy to come outside without any coaxing. It just showed me how close they all are and how much the day meant to everyone, not just Laura and Lewis.
Elms Barn was a new venue for me and SO worth the drive to get there. It’s beautiful! One of the main draws of the venue is the rose garden and little pond – it’s incredible for portraits, even when the weather isn’t ideal.
The barn is full of character and has gorgeous details such as murals painted on the walls – so there’s lots of interest. Elms Barn is down country lanes so it’s easily missed – but this makes it a real gem when you do find it.
It also means that it’s very quiet and with fields surrounding it you can easily think that there’s nothing going on in the world apart from your wedding.
The converted barn accommodation down the lane makes for really lovely bridal preparation photography and allows lots of people to be in the same area while still feeling that there is enough room for everyone.
It also means that you’re close to your bed at the end of the night! The staff work really hard to make Elms Barn exactly what the couple want and service was very attentive with delicious food – always a winner!
