Today’s styled shoot features a cast of north west wedding superstars, creative talents I’ve admired since the beginning of the English Wedding Blog a whole 6 years ago. Kerry Baker‘s fabulous make up steals the show. Flowers by Red Floral are breathtaking. Jane at HF Couture‘s designer hair accessories are exquisite; the images by Teresa C Photography are out of this world. This is bridal style without compromise: a brave, striking and different look for those of you who don’t wear pastels. I LOVE this.

Not every bride dreams of a pretty pastel wedding. In the modern age of Pinterest and social media, we are seeing couples experiment more and more with texture and colour. One trend which is set to become very popular is the used of mixed metallics to dress the venue, creating a lavish, decadent and opulent style.
As a make-up artist I have always looked for ways to inspire brides and to push the boundaries of traditional wedding make up. I’ve had a little pot of mixed metallic flake in my kit for some time, so felt it was high time to use it and to get creative and incorporate this into a bridal shoot.
I knew immediately that there was one designer whose creations would perfectly compliment the high fashion styling. I have always been a huge admirer of Ian Stuart, something about the drama and eccentricity of his gowns sing to me!
Lottie, of Lottie’s Bridal Boutique and I have known each other many years, and as a stockist of his designs, it was the perfect match. The majority of dresses used in the shoot were from Ian Stuart’s 2015 Lady Luxe collection. Lottie says: “Ian describes his life as “dancing through a world of inspiration ” looking through artistic eyes, searching for moments and images of beauty in each day from which he can draw inspiration. Gathering and channelling them into beautiful gowns, creating unique reflections of nature, music, history, architecture and humanity – each gown has its own story to tell. At Lottie’s Bridal Boutique, we love Ian and his work and believe his brand is reflected in our personal and luxurious boutique”.
It was then a matter of pulling together a fabulous team and finding the perfect location. Again this wasn’t a difficult task as I am so lucky to know so many talented professionals.
The super talented and very lovely Teresa C was our photographer.
Also part of the team were Red Floral, masters of floral art, Jane at HF Couture who creates beautiful bespoke headpieces and accessories, and Mairead (Wedlocks), a brilliant Bridal Hair Specialist.
The venue for the shoot was Eaves Hall, a stunning Georgian country house near Clitheroe, the decadent interiors and grounds providing the perfect setting for the shoot.
Finally, our models were Michelle and Lisa, both gorgeous friends of mine who posed like absolute pros!
It’s a super creative, edgy high-fashion look, showing you how it is possible to theme your make up with other elements, albeit in a very extreme way!
A dark smudged black smokey eye, nude lips and striking contour compliments the additional metallic flake on the skin. To make the look more wearable, try using a metallic accent colour blended in with a smokey eye, or a subtle gold shimmer gloss mixed with a nude lip-colour.
