One of the themes I loved most in 2016 was colour palettes. Brides and grooms have been choosing the most wonderful colour combinations – tonal palettes and contrasting shades and textures to bring their wedding style to life. It’s a creative thing – and I’m all about the creativity! So my third wedding of the year is a perfect example. Beautiful bride Laura and her gorgeous groom James used pink and gold to create a magical, romantic and perfectly on-trend wedding at Cubley Hall in Yorkshire. I hope you adore their day as much as I do!
Have you followed me on Instagram and discovered the English Wedding Blog’s Facebook page yet? Please do! We share highlights as often as we possibly can, so if you’ve ever missed a wedding or inspiration shoot on the blog you’ll spot it on our social media – and we’d LOVE for you to share the love! You can also find inspiration from the English Wedding Blog on Pinterest – enjoy!
We planned our wedding date around when both our chosen photographer and florist were going to be free! It is fair to say that all of our suppliers were thoroughly researched for and chosen as the perfect people to be a part of our special day. It was really important to both of us to be happy with the people we planned to hand over so much money to in being our suppliers and we were not disappointed with any of them.
Images are by lovely Yorkshire wedding photographer Samantha Ward. Sam’s images are out of this world – do take the time to discover her work here:
I wore a designer dress by Emma Tindley. I wanted to feel beautiful, special and unique and the dress certainly did that. It was a gorgeous vintage style made from French lace and silk and was an absolute dream to wear. So simple and elegant.
I bought my dress from The Swanky Bride, Kirkburton, Huddersfield. Not only does the owner Trish know her stuff, she is also such a warm, caring, considered and beautiful person. It was so important to me to find a shop where I felt comfortable.
Fiona Pickles of Firenza Floral Design created my stunning ‘just picked’ look flowers in a mixture of dusky and blush pinks, with cream and gold highlights. Fiona is a true artist when it comes to flowers as well as an amazing person! We met up with Fiona almost 2 years before our wedding, before we even had an official date set because I was so sure I wanted her to create my flowers for the day.
Our guest book was made using a huge frame from The Range painted in gold and we used pieces of string across the middle. Throughout the day we had people take polaroids of themselves and also write us various pieces of advice and well wishes on luggage tags to hang on the frame. It worked really well and made for emotional reading and viewing the day after the wedding.
Our table plan was made from a vintage map of the world mounted onto blush pink card and we had some of our favourite wines from around the world displayed as table names.
Each of our tables included gold table runners, a tall vase filled with blush pink pebbles and cherry blossom. We also had each table name displayed in holders we made from corks to go with the wine theme ? Beautiful petals were scattered and we had a photo of James and I on each table displayed in a gold frame. Finally we made homemade flavoured vodkas for our favours which went down a storm!
Pretty much all of our decor was homemade as I really wanted our day to resemble ‘us’ and I was really invested in wanting to have as much input into our day as possible. I really think we managed to create that as when we walked into the room all set up with our homemade pieces it just looked amazing, exactly as we had hoped it would and I was so proud of what we had created.
We both loved the fine art photography style which captures those special moments as they occur and being able to hold on to them forever in the most beautiful, light and whimsical images. Once we had decided on our preferred style I researched local Fine Art Photographers and when we met Sam we knew she was the one for us. She was exactly the sort of person we wanted by our sides to capture our special day.
