Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette Tutorial & Look

Well, here we are. I told myself I didn’t need this palette before it came out and once it was released, I found myself clicking the order button. I am really pleased that I did, though, because the new limited edition Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette is a really versatile palette. I love the wide array of neutral shades in both shimmers and mattes, as well as warm and cool tones. There’s also a few gorgeous pops of bright colors in there! I’ve got a full tutorial and makeup look for you inside that’s the perfect alternative to a classic smoky eye…

How To Get This Eye Makeup:

  1. Apply Shade 1 (Anaheim) to the crease of your eye and generously blend this upward with a fluffy blending brush. Extend this shade almost to your brow-bone area so that it peeks out as our transition shade.
  2. Apply Shade 2 (Zone) directly into the crease of your eyes only. This is to slightly darken everything up and give your socket slightly more definition. Be careful not to extend this darker brown upward too far, focusing it only in the crease.
  3. Apply Shade 3 ( Danger) to your eyelids and lower lash-line using a wet makeup brush. Pat this shade on for an intense finish and coverage.
  4. Go back with Shade 2 (Zone) and blend out your lower lash-line with this shade. This ties everything together and gives it a smoky appearance.
  5. Apply Shade 4 (Bathwater) to the inner corners of your eyes and brow-bone. Go back and use this shade as needed to blend out any harsh edges of your transition shade and to make sure the crease is blended well.

To finish off the look, I applied black eyeliner to my lower water-line. I curled my lashes and applied mascara. To add an additional pop, I applied a pair of very natural looking false lashes. I just wanted to add some length to the overall look.

What I like about this metallic blue eyeshadow shade is how insanely pigmented it is. Honestly, the entire Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette is packed with shades that have great pigmentation. I was really impressed by the quality of every single eyeshadow in the palette.

This is a great look for an evening or nighttime event. It’s also great for holiday parties coming up! A metallic navy blue like this one is the perfect alternative to classic grey and black shades. No matter what eye color you have, this shade is going to look great on you. I don’t often reach for blue shades because they typically look best on brown eyes, but this particular look really made my eye color pop!

Working with intense shades can be intimidating, mostly because you want to keep the rest of the face complementary. I always reach for neutral peach, brown, and nude shades to go alongside blue and green eyeshadow looks.

If you’re thinking about purchasing the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette, I highly recommend it. You can find it online here. It has a wide variety of shades and finishes, and each eyeshadow is rich in color. These palettes are limited edition so I don’t expect them to last long, especially since so many people are fans of Gwen Stefani!
