Not to completely date myself here, but I absolutely loved the whole newsboy/cabbie hat trend that was wildly popular in the early 2000’s. I remember watching Britney Spears wear them while she was doing her dance numbers and I went out and bought myself a few, which I proudly wore constantly. Now that the newsboy cap trend is back, I’m all for coordinating them into my outfits and with my makeup. In particular, I saw a photograph of Beyonce at a Pre-Grammy party this weekend, and she was wearing a dark leather beret with a smokey eye. I wanted to do something similar but not exact, so I went with a navy blue smokey eye that is super easy to achieve (I only used 2 shades!).
I used the Kat Von D MetalMatte Palette for this look. I used two shades: Stone and Nebula. With enough blending and building of color, you can create a multi-dimensional smokey eye with just a couple of great shades. Stone, which is a matte blue-grey, is in the crease and Nebula is all over the eyelid and lower lash-line. I also went back and blended some of Stone into my upper lash-line to make it look smokey around the lashes.
The lips are a blend of Anastasia Beverly Hills Ashton and Pure Hollywood.
My newsboy cap is from Nasty Gal and comes in different shades and textures.
Admittedly, I don’t wear a lot of navy blue. It was fun to switch it up and step out of my comfort zone a bit with this look. You can shop everything on my face and the hat I’m wearing below!
