6 ways you can make your wedding extra special

Tags: wedding

We all want our Wedding day to one of the most important days of our lives, not only for the happy bride and groom but also for the friends and family in attendance. Below, we’ve put together a few ways that you can make a wedding extra special – let us know what you think!

Tear up the rulebook

It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype of planning a wedding and follow someone else’s pattern from Pinterest or a wedding magazine. But what if you tore up the rulebook and did it how you wanted to? If you’re not a fan of white dresses, get hitched in a red dress. If you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a wedding venue, marry in your back garden. It’s easy to feel like you have to follow traditions, but the truth is, you can do what you want.

Keep it intimate

Something else that many couples struggle with is choosing who to invite to their wedding, and this often results in them having a guest list that’s at least 100+. Not only does this take away some of the intimacy of your wedding day, but it can make things super expensive. If you’re looking for a more relaxed, family-only affair, let your friends know the situation and promise that you’ll share your wedding photographs and host a celebratory party with them!

Get married overseas

Getting married in another country is another idea to consider if you want your wedding to be super special. Whether it’s a tropical island off the Caribbean or a European backpack with your other half, it’s oh-so-romantic to tie the knot overseas. Sure, you won’t be able to invite everyone, and some people won’t be able to get time off work or be able to afford expensive hotels and transfers, but if you’re in a fortunate position, your loved ones can still tag along.

Give your guests a goodie bag

A lot of emphasis is put on what to buy the bride and groom for their wedding day, but what about guests? One way to cement your wedding is to buy every guest a goodie bag filled with your favorite things, whether it’s candy, jewelry, or a wooden memento of the day. You don’t need to spend a fortune – most of these gifts can be picked up at the dollar store.

Tie it in with another event

If you really want to go all out and make your big day one to remember, you could tie it in with another major event like Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or Valentine’s Day. Granted, this will make your wedding much more expensive if you’re getting hitched in a church and need a venue to host your party, but there are ways to cut costs, like getting friends to cater for you and providing your own entertainment in the form of karaoke or even a fun competition.

Incorporate quirky traditions

Finally, think about the ceremony itself when deciding how you can stand out. It’s natural to want to leave writing the vows and organizing the proceedings to the experts, but you can still add some quirks of your own. Claddagh Rings has put together this infographic which covers a few Celtic wedding traditions – one of our favorites is a pre-ceremony handfasting.

Whatever you’ve got planned for your big day, we hope that you have the time of your life.
