Interview: Nasir Khan

Today I’m interviewing Nasir Khan, the sales director at Fynsis Softlabs, a leading customer relations (CRM) management firm.

When did you discover your talent?

In 2006.

What was your initial goal?

To become a successful entrepreneur by starting an IT (internet technology) company.

When did you begin seriously pursuing your dream?

In 2005.

What did you want to become when you grew up?

A businessman/entrepreneur.

What part of your industry do you find most interesting?

Marketing and sales.

What aspect of your work do you enjoy most?

Talking to clients and doing business that mutually benefits us.

What does your typical workday look like?

I start my day with checking emails and responding to them.

This is followed by a to-do-list for the day. It helps prioritize tasks. The main goal is to finish the highest priority task and be more productive.

Once that’s done, I normally do a brain storming session with my marketing team to design new marketing strategies and be more creative in doing something unique and valuable to the company.

Then we discuss our projects and set up a meeting or train the team who is to carry out a specific tasks.

Post lunch I’ll have a one on one session with one of the team members in order to learn more about his progress and any difficulties the team may be facing.

The primary purpose of the session is to motivate the employees and to make sure that they are doing well.

Is there a specific message you wish to communicate through your work?

Your work will gain the recognition it deserves.

What has been your favorite project so far?

It was a project I’ve worked on for a U.S. client.

How important is feedback to you?

Extremely important.

Can you think of a communication by a fan you found impressing?

Yes, I do. I gave a guest lecture at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.

How does your work fit into the direction of the world today?

As the world is changing at a tremendous pace, being competitive and up to date with latest technological advancements is the key to success.

What do you do to relax?

It depends. Anything from a little nap or a 20-minute break to a fun 3-4 day trip.

Do you or have you received support and encouragement from friends, family and colleagues?

Yes.

Have you had times where you thought that your goal is impossible?

Yes, initially, but I always had the courage to make impossible things happen.

My courage evolved over the course of my childhood, my time in college and my work.

Is there something you’d like to share so as to encourage people to pursue their dreams?

Never give up. Failure is the key to success. Make mistakes. It is never wrong to make one but not learning from it is.

How do you feel about visualization? Have you ever tried it and did it work for you?

Yes, of course! I believe in visualization 100%.

I use the blank canvas effect and encourage my clients to imagine what their goal looks like.

What has been the most successful venue of promotion of your work?

India.

What are the latest free and paid marketing optimization tools you are using at the moment?

For no cost marketing I use LinkedIn, Quora, and Facebook, and as for paid marketing I use Campaign Monitor, a Moz tool.

Digital marketing.

What is the #1 sales generation social media site in 2016?

Given the popularity of visual content, do you think that Twitter hashtags are a thing of the past?

I hope so. I admit, I haven’t used Twitter much.
