There is much to be said for a song that just has a Good Vibe going on, and that is the case with La Sera‘s truly sublime “I Need An Angel.” Like a rave-up duet between Maria McKee and Gram Parsons (if there could be such a thing), “I Need An Angel” transcends its potentially played out subject matter to cross genres in a way that the California Sound of the 196os inspired what we now call alt-country — and who is even doing that in modern music these days? Answer: no one – no one worth listening to. And there is no denying that there is a bit of Johnny Marr in that lead guitar riff. Squeal.
