Animal prints are back for fall and bigger than ever. When it came to fashion week, leopard was everywhere. But these days I consider leopard to be a neutral (more on that next week). The big standout print I saw was Snakeskin. The python print slithered into street style from dresses and jackets to accessories.
While snakeskin can be incredibly chic and look very expensive, it also runs the risk of looking a little tacky. I saw a snakeskin looks that would have worked better on Jersey Shore than front row at fashion week. One way to make the snakeskin trend more feminine is with lace, which we talked about last week.
Another way to make the snakeskin trend look more polished is by sticking to a neutral color palette. As much as I love brights, the print does plenty of talking. So keeping to an outfit of browns or grays guarantees a more sophisticated look. If you’re doing a dress, like me, a midi or maxi length also helps make the look more fashion-forward.
Since it was fashion week, I went a little extra by matching my snakeskin dress with snakeskin boots. I know it’s not for everyone, so you could get a similar look by wear a snakeskin dress with a neutral shoe… or a snakeskin boot with a neutral dress. My boots are no longer available and my dress only has a few sizes left. So I rounded up some more options for you to create a similar look if you want to slither into the snakeskin trend this fall, too.

On a side note, I tried out a darker red lipstick for fall, NARS “Red Lizard.” It made me feel edgier than usual, especially paired with sleek hair and all that snakeskin! While my go-to is a brighter red, it was fun to try out something new. For me, that’s what fashion week is all about: sticking to your signature style while experimenting with some a little extra bold for a change.
